Russian women team defeats the reigning Olympiad champions. Round 4 Report

In the fourth round of the Khanty-Mansiysk Olympiad the rating favorites of the women event Russia-1 defeated the winners of the Dresden Olympiad – Georgia. The key to success was Alisa Galliamova’s victory over Bela Khotenashvili; other three games were drawn.
Four teams won all their matches in the starting four rounds and collected 8 team points. According to the tie-break they are placed in the following order: 1. Ukraine, 2. Bulgaria, 3. China, 4. Russia-1. Other four teams collected 7 points.
In the open competition we have seven leaders with the prefect score: Russia-2, Georgia, Vietnam, Russia-1, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Armenia.
It is worthy to note that Baadur Jobava (Georgia) defeated the world number one Magnus Carlsen (Norway). Judit Polgar (Hungary) defeated Bu Xiandzhi (China) and secured a match win against the tournament’s third seed for her team.

Open section: Russia-2 – India – 3-1; Hungary – China – 2,5-1,5; Armenia – Russia-3 – 2,5-1,5; the Netherlands – Spain – 3-1; Russia-1 – USA – 3-1, Georgia – Norway – 3,5-0,5; Estonia – Vietnam – 0,5-3,5.
Women section: Cuba – Ukraine – 1,5-2,5; Georgia – Russia-1 – 1,5-2,5; Hungary – USA – 2-2; Bulgaria – India – 2,5-1,5; Serbia – China – 1,5-2,5; Germany – Slovenia – 2-2; Romania – Spain – 3,5-0,5; Iran – Russia-2 – 2-2.
