Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was re-elected FIDE President

The elections of the FIDE President for the next 4 years period were held in Khanty-Mansiysk on 29 September 2010. The current President won with a margin of 40 votes. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov nominated by the Russian Chess Federation, won 95 votes while his opponent, Anatoly Karpov, nominated by Germany and several other Western states, received 55 votes.
The elections were held in a secret ballot.
