The Bank of Khanty-Mansiysk provided us with a unique opportunity to purchase a commemorative silver coin dedicated to the 39th World Chess Olympiad held in Khanty-Mansiysk. She is only 9 years old and she will celebrate her 10th birthday in December. In fact the women's national team of Trinidad and Tobago is one of the youngest at this tournament. Read more »

Alexandra Kosteniuk: "It is too early to think about gold"

The 6th round of the women competition saw a clash between the leaders – Russia and Ukraine. Tatiana Kosintseva lost to Kateryna Lahno on the 1st board, however, her sister Nadezhda managed to defend a difficult position against Natalia Zhukova, while Alexandra Kosteniuk defeated Anna Ushenina, and Alisa Galliamova recorded a win for Russia by beating Maria Muzychuk. The Russian women team became a sole leader of the Olympiad. Round 6 Report

The 6th round of the 39th Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk produced a sole leader in the women competition: Russia-1 defeated Ukraine, the winners of the Olympiad-2006, and moved to the clear first place. The Russians won all the six games and collected 12 team points.
The match was very tense; the Russians were trailing at some point, as Tatiana Kosintseva quickly lost to Kateryna Lahno. Read more »

The grandmasters met young chess players of UGRA. The meeting brought together almost 400 people. One of the most famous chess players Dmitry Jakovenko answered heaps of children's questions. The professionals from St. Petersburg are responsible for providing catering services for the participants of the 39th World Chess Olympiad in the Hotel complex Olympic. The chess players consume about 9 tons of food per day. Read more »
