Urgent Announcement

Dear friends!

Attention to all FIDE Chess Federations! Please provide all data in respect of the changes/amendments for the online registration to the Organising Committee by the August 30th 2010. The proper request shall be sent by the Organising Committee to all FIDE Federations. In case these are not sent by the said date, the Organising Committee shall not be in a position to provide invitations for entry visas to Russia. The Federations are also kindly requested to effect payments for airport tax and rooms upgrade by the same date, August 30th 2010. Otherwise the airplane bookings and hotel rooms reservations shall be cancelled.

Cultural program

A workshop between the Department Director of Culture of Autonomous Okrug Alexander Karmazin and the Chief Director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Chess Olympiad Alexander Grimm was held on august 19. The key points of the organization of ceremonies were discussed at the meeting. The organizers said that during the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Chess Olympiad modern technologies would be used, including the light and projection equipment with video projections.

The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova held a regular meeting of the organizing committee of the 39th World Chess Olympiad.

The main theme is the safety measures during the tournament. In particular, was discussed the preparation of staff for emergencies. "The likelihood of such problems, of course, is not large, but we also can not exclude them during the preparation. “I ask all concerned departments carefully approach such issues, as human security is above everything, and this should not be speculated on,” - stressed the Head of Okrug.

Congress: Notes for Delegates at the FIDE Congress

The Agenda and annexes for the 81st FIDE Congress General Assembly to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from September 29th to October 2nd have been published on the FIDE web site. One copy of the printed Agenda will be sent to each federation and another copy will be available in Khanty-Mansiysk.

FIDE is pulishing the Agenda and Annexes for the 81st FIDE Congress scheduled from 23 September to 4 October 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova held a regular meeting of the Olympiad OC

The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova held a regular meeting of the 39th World Chess Olympiad Organizing Committee which will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, from 19 September to 4 October this year.

The committee members discussed the improvement of the area near the facilities, where the tournament and participants accommodation would be. They also spoke about the information support of the Olympiad. Presently there is the press accreditation; the applications for coverage the event have already been submitted by 40 media representatives from around the world.

Ugra is planning to establish a pool of 300 volunteers for the World Chess Olympiad

Тhe Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova held a regular meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 39th World Chess Olympiad, one of the issues on which was devoted to the work of volunteers.

There are currently 223 volunteers ready for work. At the meeting, the governor decided to collect a reserve in the amount of 300-320 people. According to the words of Anton Timkin, the director of independent non-profit organization Center for Social Projects «Initiative», it is necessary to keep a balance for all to be involved, and thus there won’t be «doing nothing» people.

Teams of Morocco and Yemen will participate in the Olympiad

 

Teams of Morocco and Yemen will participate in the Olympiad upon FIDE approval. In total there will be 120 women and 160 men (158 + 2 Russian teams) teams from 158 countries playing in Khanty-Mansiysk.

At the World Chess Olympiad the honor of Ugra will defend the Team of Ugra Chess Federation. The sports director of the Ugra Chess Federation Valery Yoshan told us about the federation and the team in common.

- Valery, tell us how long ago the Federation was founded and what is included in its sphere of activity?

- The Chess Federation of Ugra was established in January 2006 to promote and develop chess in Ugra, bringing the Okrug's population to systematic chess studies, training of high-class players, as well as holding regular neighborhood, all Russian and international competitions and other sporting events. From the very creation of the Federation series of competitions at various levels were carried out. During the entire period the Federation enhances the professional level of chess arbiters. Seminars for arbiters are regularly conducted, for the international category the representatives of the refereeing of Ugra participated in the judging of the European Championship, World Cups and world competitions.

The 20th of July 2010 is the deadline for on-line registration. The registration will be closed after this date. Please, check the data of your team in on-line registration and make all the necessary amendments!

About 70 units of transport will serve the World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk.

This was reported by the transport service of executive management of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the World Chess Olympiad 2010 and the FIDE Congress represented by “UgraInterSport”.

 

Term of the payment of invoices is prolonged

Olympiad LogoThe Khanty-Mansiysk Organisers have agreed to extend the payment date for charters and accommodation until July 15th 2010. All payments must be made by this date as tickets will need to be issued for Charters and accommodation booked for upgrades and additional or accompanying persons.

Khanty-Mansiysk prepares for 10 charter flights

Khanty-Mansiysk will take 10 charter flights on the 19th and 20th of September. UgraInterSport, the executive directorate of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the World Chess Olympiad 2010 and the FIDE Congress informed about it.

 

Administration of Khanty-Mansiysk city prepares for the World Chess Olympiad

On June 30, the meeting of the organizing committee, led by head of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, has been held. At the meeting the adopted plan of events on assisting in the preparation and holding of the World Chess Olympiad 2010 and FIDE Congress were discussed.
